Potential

RARS Ambalavayal has immense potential for profitable cultivation of an array of horticultural crops like cool season vegetables, mango, litchi, orange and avocado, exotic fruit crops, annual fruits like strawberry, commercial cut flowers like orchids, gerbera and anthuriums, medicinal and aromatic plants, fodder, coconut and tender coconut. The Center has already taken up research projects to promote commercial production and high-density planting of fruits like litchi, mangosteen, avocado, rambutan and cool season vegetables.

The RARS Ambalavayal campus also houses the ICAR Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the College of Agriculture, Ambalavayal, creating a unique hub that combines research, extension, and teaching.

Launched in 2023 on the station's campus, the Indo-Dutch Project—Center of Excellence for Vegetables and Flowers—has made the station unique by developing cutting-edge infrastructure for Hi-Tech horticulture research and extension.
