Subhiksha Keralam Activities

Under the Subhiksha Keralam initiative, RARS Ambalavayal is playing a led role to promote farming activities in the district.

The station intends to produce 5 lakh pepper cuttings, 20 tonne paddy seeds, 500 kg vegetable seeds, 20,000 coconut seedlings, 50000 areca nut seedlings, 1 lakh planting materials each of fruit crops and ornamentals and 120 tonne biocontrol agents under this special drive.

32000 vegetable seed kits are already supplied to the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare to distribute to farmers.

In addition to that more than 4 tonnes of jack harvested from the RARS farm is processed by the food processing unit to make 405 kg of chips and 40 kg dried jack, with strict adherence to the protocols issued with respect to COVID 19.

Cultivation of paddy in 5 ha of land is already started and upland paddy cultivation (variety Vysakh) is started in an area of 1 ha land.

Plans for cultivating cool season vegetables in an area by joining with the agricultural department is also active.
